Leptis Magna, Khoms, Libya

Leptis Magna Leptis Magna and was one of the important cities of the republic of Carthage. Under Diocletian in 303, during the partition of Proconsular Africa, it became the capital of the new province, Tripolitania. Its ruins are located near the present town of Khoms, about 120 km east of Tripoli, on the mouth of the Wadi Lebda in Libya.
