Sigiriya, Sri Lanka

Sigiriya – also called Simhagîri rock lion – is a major archaeological site, an ancient royal capital of Sri Lanka and a major tourist attraction. The site is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is located in the center of the country 160 km from Colombo. Before the amenities of Kassapa, the site had been occupied as shown graffiti found in a cave, and the reclining Buddha thirteen meters dating from the second century BC.
